About this blog

Lois Long – a journalist at The New Yorker from the 1920s, and a little bit of my inspiration.

This blog was born on 5th March 2011 as a resource to showcase reviews of the huge range of musicals that are playing in London (and sometimes elsewhere). Since then it has gone from strength to strength, gathering followers and subscribers from word of mouth and online recommendations.

As a result of the content, I was commissioned to write a Guest Guide to Musicals for http://www.culturecritic.co.uk. If you would like to commission me for anything similar (or wildly different, I’d give most things a shot!), please use the form below to contact me.

Equally, please send me a message if you would like me to come along and review your show. To fund my theatre habit, I also have a full-time, non-theatrical job, but will make every effort to come along to review as many as possible in return for some press tickets.

If you like it, please spread the word. The link is www.oneinalongline.com, I am @oneinalongline on Twitter and there is also a Facebook page that you can ‘like’. If you click on the button under ‘Email Subscriptions’ amongst the links at the bottom every page, you can also be sent a copy of each review as it is published.

Finally, I hope that you have enjoyed reading this blog. I love to write it. If you have any comments/suggestions then I always welcome feedback – add a comment by clicking ‘Leave a Comment’ on the left of each review.

Happy theatregoing,

Helena x

P.S. The title is a lyric from one of my favourite songs – ‘You Can Always Count on Me’ from a musical called City of Angels. Well worth checking out if it’s on somehere near you… Enjoy.

I really enjoyed your blog. Beautifully written, your enthusiasm and critical appreciation comes over well. I think you have a talent for writing. I will forward around to friends who love musicals and Johanna and Daniel of course. Bon chance and hope to see you soon.

    Love

Thanks so much Maire. It would be great if you could spread the word… Maybe just one day this can become the basis of something more full time than something I have to squeeze around work!

I hope that you have a lovely birthday dinner next week – sorry I can’t make it.

      Lots of love,

      Helena
